Why it works: Frizzle drives the bus into the ocean for a submarine expedition from the surface toward the seafloor. The changing water conditions, marine organisms, habitats, and need for underwater access turn ocean science into the route and discoveries of the trip.
Why it works: The class's forgotten homework launches an impossible bus trip through Earth's crust toward the center and back out through a volcano. The route turns layers, rocks, internal heat, and volcanic activity into locations and obstacles in a geological adventure.
Why it works: The bus becomes a spaceship and takes the class through the atmosphere, past the Moon, and into the wider solar system. Distance, planetary differences, and navigation become the scenery and complications of an interplanetary field-trip adventure.
